Advances in Immunoregulation of Artificial Liver Support System for Patients with Liver Failure

Abstract: The artificial liver support system constitutes a critical intervention in the therapeutic management of patients experiencing liver failure and is applicable at any stage of the disease progression. Given that the trajectory of liver failure is frequently associated with significant immune dysfunction, the artificial support system not only enhances hepatic function and improves coagulation disorders but may also concurrently modulate the patient's immune response. This modulation includes the regulation of lymphocytes and mononuclear macrophages. We conducted a retrospective analysis of various aspects, including alterations in immune function among patients with liver failure, the operational mechanisms of the artificial liver support system, and the modulation of the immune system. The findings offer a prospective research trajectory for the advancement of artificial liver support systems.
