Abstract: Objective To analyze the clinical characteristics of adverse transfusion reactions, and investigate the effect of preventive medication on transfusion adverse reactions. Methods Adverse reactions of transfusion were analyzed in the hospital from April 2014 to November 2015. The patients were divided into group 1( dexamethasone before blood transfusions),group 2 (preventive use of promethazine) and control group (patients without any medications). The adverse reactions of three groups were compared, and the results were statistically analyzed. Results There were 36 cases of adverse transfusion reactions among 17 466 blood transfusion cases, with an incidence of 0.21%. Allergic reactions mostly occurred, accounting for 80.56%. Additionally, the incidence of adverse reactions in apheresis platelets transfusion was the highest (0.58%). No significant difference was noted in the incidence of adverse transfusion reactions between group1,group 2,and control group(P> 0.05). Conclusion Preventive medication before blood transfusion has no significant effect on the occurrence of adverse reactions.
