Abstract: Objective To investigate the level and significance of plasma cholyglycine (CG) and total bile acid (TBA) in intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy (ICP) which may provide a basis for the clinical diagnosis and treatment of ICP.Methods Eighty ICP patients and 80 healthy pregnant women were selected from 2015 to 2017 and were divided into observation group and control group. The plasma levels of CG,TBA and perinatal complications in the two groups were compared. ICP patients were grouped according to the levels of CG and TBA,and the perinatal complications were compared. Results The levels of serum CG and TBA in the observation group were significantly elevated when compared with those in the control (P<0.05). The incidence of fetal distress, premature birth, neonatal asphyxia and neonatal death were significantly higher in the observation group than those in the control (P<0.05). The incidence of fetal distress, premature delivery and neonatal asphyxia increased with the high level of CG (P<0.05). The level of TBA in patients with ICP was found to be in parallel with the incidence of fetal distress, premature delivery and neonatal asphyxia (P<0.05). Conclusion Patients with ICP have a high level of serum CG and TBA compared with normal pregnancies. Detection of CG and TBA is useful for clinical diagnosis and prognosis of ICP.
