Abstract: Objective To study the count of peripheral eosinophils in patients with asthma underlying chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases (COPD) and explore its significance in prognosis of COPD. Methods Eight seven patients with COPD hospitalized in 2016 and 2018 were divided into group A(EOS≥2%)and group B (EOS<2%). The relationship was compared between the count of peripheral eosinophils and the prognosis of asthma combined with COPD. Results No difference of gender, age, smoking, and duration was noted between the two groups(P>0.05). The EOS counts in group B were significantly less than those in group A but NLR,D-dimer and hs-CRP levels were notably higher than group A(P<0.05). The numbers of inpatients and deaths within one year were found to be increased in group A (P<0.05). Conclusion The number of eosinophils is closely related to the frequency of re-admission,D-dimer,NLR,and hs-CRP,suggesting its potential clinical significance.
Key words: Peripheral blood eosinophils, Asthma-COPD, NLR, hs-CRP, D-dimer
