Abstract: Objective To investigate the value of expression of 21 genes for risk evaluation of recurrence in breast cancer patients. Methods Ninety patients with positive estrogen receptor (ER) and negative human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) were investigated from June 2014 to August 2017. All patients underwent cancer surgery. The expression of 21 genes (including 16 breast cancer associated genes and 5 references) was detected by real-time fluorescence polymerase chain reaction, and the results were used for assessments of recurrence risk. The patients were divided into low risk (n=26),intermediate risk (n=30) and high risk groups (n=34) according to the scores and risk of recurrence. The recurrence scores of 21 genetic markers were analyzed with multivariate logistic regression analyses. Results The results of single gene test showed that there were no significant differences of recurrence scores in the 21 gene markers among age, pathological types, histological grades,P53,TOPIIa,EGFR,CK5/6 and surgical methods of breast cancer (P>0.05). The recurrence scores of 21 markers were closely related to the tumor sizes,Ki67 and PR positive rates in the patients (P<0.05). Conclusion Detection of the 21 gene markers and recurrence scoring are useful for early diagnoses and treatments of patients with breast cancer.
