Study on the Relationship between Periodontitis and Renal Function

Abstract: Objective Our aim is to investigate the relationship between periodontitis and renal function. Methods A total of 90 patients with periodontitis treated in our hospital were selected as case group and 90 healthy persons of periodontal examination were selected as the control group. The levels of serum BUN,CR,eGFR,CysC and SOD were compared between the two groups to study the relationship between periodontitis and renal function. Results The serum levels of BUN and CysC in the case group were higher than those in the control group,the levels of eGFR and SOD were lower than those in control group(P<0.05). No significant difference was found in the level of CR between the two groups (P>0.05). Conclusion Patients with periodontitis have obvious abnormal renal function related indexes,and periodontitis may be one of the risk factors of kidney disease.
