Abstract: Objective To explore the effect and significance of age and gender on platelet and its related parameters. Methods The Beckman Coulter LH750 complete blood cell analyzer was used to measure platelet count (PLT), plateletcrit (PCT), mean platelet volume (MPV) and platelet distribution width (PDW) in 29 614 healthy adults in Shanghai Shuguang Hospital from January 1, 2019 to December 31, 2019. The results of each group were analyzed and compared. Results There were differences in PLT and PCT by gender and there were significant differences between over fifty years old and youth group (P< 0.05). PDW was closely related to age. Conclusion Gender and age could affect the results of platelet parameters to some degree, so we should establish a more detailed reference range for adults.
